The projects were initiated by a special commission from Cinema Revolution Society, with each filmmaker developing and producing a narrative film (or films) dedicated to a different Minneapolis neighborhood, landmark or unique place. |
MINNESOTA DANCE FILM FESTIVALDance Film Project: December 17th and 18th 2010, Southern Theater, MinneapolisThe Cinema Revolution Society and the Southern Theater present the third annual Dance Film Project, as part of the Minnesota Dance Film Festival. Dance Film Project is an outlet for dancemakers and filmmakers to create original short works for the camera with a guaranteed presentation. The festival values creativity, experimentation and cross-discipline dialogue among artists and aims to explore choreography and movement through a cinematic language. Dance on screen, or "screendance," focuses on the intersection of choreography and cinematography creating a unique cinematic experience. Cinema Revolution initiated the Project in 2008 by hosting an open forum for dancemakers and filmmakers to come together and dialogue about dance for the camera. |
